PlayStation held its State of Play this month, announcing a slew of release dates, trailers and more for upcoming third-party and indie games and a splash of Spider-Man 2, which is set to release on October 20, 2023. If you missed the event, here’s a quick round-up of all the big announcements and trailers revealed during the PlayStation State of Play in September 2023.

New Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Trailer

Insomniac Games released a new gameplay trailer for Spider-Man 2, showcasing the game’s revamped open world and how players can find the variety of activities scattered around the map. The developers also announced that over 65 different Spider-suits will be available at launch and will cover suits featured in the original game and from comic books and movies.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Release Date Announced

Square Enix made their presence felt during the PlayStation State of Play September 2023 by announcing the release date for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which launch on the PS5 on February 29, 2024. Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was released in 2020 and will be released on two separate discs.
Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways DLC Is Out Next Week

Resident Evil 4 is indeed getting a post-launch DLC in the form of Separate Ways, which is set during the events of the main game and has players controlling Ada Wong. The DLC is scheduled to release next week, on September 21, 2023.
Resident Evil 4 Remake PSVR2 Version Is Coming This Year

Capcom also announced a release window for the awaited PSVR2 version of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Via a new gameplay the trailer, the publisher said that the PSVR2 mode will release sometime this winter and will be a free download.
Avatar: Frontiers New Story Trailer

Avatar: Frontiers, Ubisoft’s open world shooter based on James Cameron’s popular franchise, is scheduled to release on December 7. At the September State of Play, it released a new story trailer which shows that players will control a Na’vi who was abudted by the RDA and trained in “human ways”.
Robolox is Finally Coming to PlayStation 4

After the recent announcement that Roblox was coming to PlayStation consoles, today’s State of Play revealed that the PS4 version of the game will drop first on October 10 and will include cross-platform support.
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord PSVR2 Release Date Announced

Announced over two years ago, developers nDreams has finally put a release date on Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord for PSVR2. The game will release on October 26, where players can run their own ghost-busting business in San Francisco. Players can suit up to play solo or with up to three friends as they try and stop the powerful Ghost Lord and his band ghostly buddies from creating havoc around the city.
New Helldivers 2 Gameplay, and a Release Date

Developers Arrowhead released a new trailer for Helldivers 2, along with a release date. The co-op shooter will release on February 8, 2024 for PS5 and PC.
Foamstars Open Beta Dates Announced

Square Enix’s Splatoon-inspired online shooter, Foamstars is getting an open beta. The beta will be available on PS5 from September 29 to October 1, 2023.
