The reimagining of the fan-favourite game in the series is gaining praise from critics, with the game’s upgraded visuals, plenty of quality-of-life improvements, and the addition of a stellar voice cast being cited as some the reasons for fans to get back into the game once again.
A stellar visual overhaul and countless small changes and additions beyond it leave a significant impact, making Persona 3 Reload a more fully realized version of a beloved RPG. This is the kind of remake I’ve hoped for, and even after spending 70 hours to see it all the way to its conclusion, I still find it hard to believe it’s real.
Persona 3 Reload is a brilliant remake. In terms of gameplay, it’s easily the best incarnation of a classic RPG, boasting countless quality of life and mechanical adjustments that place it alongside the outstanding Persona 5 Royal. Storytelling enhancements make the plot even more impactful, and the remade visuals are a joy to behold.
Since every Persona title switches to a new setting with its characters and lore, Persona 3 Reload is a great entry point thanks to its refinements. While omitting the female protagonist and The Answer DLC does sour its first impression, Persona 3 Reload is a triumph of a remake that bridges the generations-wide gap between the original and successive entries.
Persona 3 Reload was Atlus’ chance to pull every single past incarnation of Persona 3 into one ultimate package. Atlus mostly succeeds here by updating many of Persona 3’s gameplay systems while staying surprisingly faithful to the originals. The overhauled graphics, art style, and rearranged soundtrack are all welcome additions that mostly fit right in with the original’s attitude.
Persona 3 Reload is a confident remake of a truly seminal RPG that cements itself as the definitive way to play Persona 3. It’s clear that careful thought and deliberation has gone into every aspect of Reload to respect the legacy of Persona 3 while preserving its timeless charm and atmosphere.
