Rockstar Games has officially announced GTA 6, giving us a small glimpse of the game with the first reveal trailer. The trailer was previously scheduled to air today at 6pm, but after a massive leak last night, Rockstar decided to pull the trigger early.

In a press release, Rockstar Games confirmed that the game will be released sometime in 2025 and will be a next-generation release only, i.e., it will only be released for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Curiously, the press release doesn’t mention a PC release which could concern GTA Online players and the modding community as a whole.
“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, in a press release. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
The trailer gives us a look at the game’s female protagonist, Lucia, who seems to be in cohorts with another male character as they seemingly commit crimes around town. It also confirms that the game is set in Vice City, which shouldn’t come as a surprise for fans of the series.
GTA games are known to satirise US pop culture, and judging from the myriad shots of Tiktoks and live streams, it seems that social media will be a big part of the game.
