In a blog post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft said fans will get an “in-depth look at upcoming titles, how they’re being created, and who’s creating them”, revealing that fans will get a first look at what MachineGames is cooking with its upcoming Indiana Jones title, as well further looks at Obsidian’s Avowed, Oxide Games’ Ara: History Untold, and Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.
The Redmon tech giant was also quick to point out that the Xbox Direct will now have any updates from Activision Blizzard: “Please note that while this show won’t have updates on games Activision Blizzard, you can look forward to news from those teams later this year.”
Regardless, there is plenty to look forward to for Xbox fans in the year’s first Xbox Direct. MachineGames long-awaited Indiana Jones game, will get a first reveal with “more than 10 minutes of game and developer insights”, according to Xbox Wire, as well as details about the game’s setting, story, first gameplay trailer, and “how fans will actually play as Indy” – which should address if the game will be first-person or third-person (or maybe a mix of both?).
Obsidian’s first RPG under Xbox, Avowed, will also get a deep dive, highlighting the developer’s expertise in “building worlds with deep themes, dynamic gameplay”, and where “players will have agency to make choices to shape every step of their adventure.”
The Xbox Direct will give yet another look into the long-announced-and-just-when-will-it-release Hellblade II from Ninja Theory. The action adventure from Ninja Theory is set to release sometime this year for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Game Pass. However, it doesn’t seem that we will get a confirmed release date during the show, as the description says the event “will speak to the ambition and meticulous care involved” in creating the game. But here’s hoping otherwise.
Finally, Oxide Games – a team founded by some of the co-creators behind Civilization V – will reveal “exclusive new gameplay and share more details” about its historical grand strategy game, Ara: History Untold.
Will you be tuning in to watch the Xbox Direct, and if so, which game are you most hyped about? Let us know in the comments!
