Bad news for fans of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom- there is no DLC planned for the highly successful game. The good news is that there may be a brand new Zelda game and it’s already in development by Nintendo.

In an interview with Famitsu, Eiji Aonuma, producer of Tears of the Kingdom, said that the team has no plans for a DLC because they have done everything they could with the game.
“There are no plans to release additional content this time, but that’s because I feel like we’ve done everything we can to create fun in that world,” he said.
This might come as a surprise to many, considering how well Tears of the Kingdom has sold so far. As of June 2023, the action-adventure sold more than 18.51 million units within a month and a half after its release – more than half of its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, which has sold over 30.65 million copies.

However, while the team might be done with Tears of the Kingdom for now, it seems they are also ready to leave Hyrule behind and start working on a brand new Zelda game.
Whether it’s a sequel or a new work, I think it’s going to be a completely new game
“In the first place, the reason I decided to make this a sequel to the previous work was because I thought there was value in experiencing a new game in that Hyrule space,” Aonuma said. “If that’s the case, if a new reason arises, we might turn to the same world again. Whether it’s a sequel or a new work, I think it’s going to be a completely new game, so I hope you’re looking forward to it.”
In the same interview, Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi also commented on the news, saying, “We are very grateful that so many customers have been playing Tears of the Kingdom for so long and deeply, so we will do our best to make the next game even more enjoyable.”
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on May 12, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch and created records by being one of the highest-rated games on Metacritic at 96%.
