Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 is done, and Geoff Keighley once again managed to squeeze an unreasonable number of trailers into a couple of hours. There were a few genuinely big surprises, particularly towards the end of the show, alongside release dates, new gameplay, world premieres and enough smaller announcements that it was pretty easy to lose track of what was going on.
So, if you don’t fancy scrubbing through the entire show, here’s the useful version. We’ve included the pre-show announcements as well before getting into the main event.
Nodusfall
HoYoverse opened the show with something quite different from Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail. Nodusfall is a dark-fantasy co-op action game with a much grittier look than the studio’s usual output, though there’s no release date yet.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics
Ubisoft is taking Rainbow Six in a very different direction with Tactics, a turn-based strategy spin-off featuring Operators from Rainbow Six Siege. The game comes from developers with experience on Mario + Rabbids and Ghost Recon and launches in 2027.
Gears of War: E-Day
Gears of War: E-Day returned with a new campaign trailer focused more heavily on the story and the early days of the Locust invasion. We also got another look at Marcus and Dom in action ahead of the game’s October 6 release.
Ananta
NetEase showed a lengthy new trailer for its free-to-play urban open-world RPG, with more combat, traversal, vehicles and general city-based chaos on display. Ananta now has a release date of January 15, 2027.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Silent Hill: Townfall got a suitably unpleasant new trailer revealing more of its story and cast. The first-person horror spin-off from No Code is set to launch on September 24.
Sea of Remnants
Sea of Remnants returned with more gameplay, showing off its puppet-like characters, ocean exploration and naval combat. The free-to-play RPG is still without a final launch date.
Crimson Desert Enhanced
Pearl Abyss announced Crimson Desert Enhanced, an upgraded version of the open-world action game with additional story content, new scenes and broader localisation support.
Tides of Annihilation
Tides of Annihilation got another stylish action-heavy trailer, but the bigger bit of news was a change behind its protagonist. Angela Sant’Albano, who played Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, is now voicing Gwendoline.
Lofsöng
Lofsöng showed more of its quiet puzzle-adventure gameplay, pairing its childlike protagonist with a shapeshifting origami companion. It is coming to PC and consoles, although there is no release date yet.
Mega Man: Dual Override
Capcom introduced Twinkle Girl, the first Robot Master revealed for Mega Man: Dual Override, while also teasing the return of Proto Man. The game is still lined up for 2027, and a Pragmata crossover skin was shown as well.
Rayman Legends Retold
Ubisoft revealed one of the new musical stages being added to Rayman Legends Retold, and yes, it is built around Los del Río’s “Macarena.” The remake launches on October 1.
PUBG: DED.NET
PUBG is branching out with DED.NET, a new first-person multiplayer shooter set during the 1990s. It features run-based roguelike progression and a rather different tone from the battle royale that started the series.
Control Resonant
Remedy brought another dose of weirdness with a new Control Resonant trailer, showing more combat, strange physics and a Hiss-infested Manhattan. The game launches on September 24.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Rebel Wolves showed the launch trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker, with another look at its vampire-heavy dark fantasy world, story choices and third-person combat ahead of its September release.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
The upcoming Game of Thrones strategy game received its first proper gameplay trailer, showing some of the armies and familiar characters you’ll be throwing into battle. War for Westeros is scheduled for 2027.
DUST: Origins
Airship Syndicate revealed DUST: Origins, an isometric horror shooter set aboard a doomed orbital prison. There’s no launch date yet.
Exodus
Exodus introduced one of its more unusual companions: Salt, a talking octopus who pilots a mech suit and seems perfectly comfortable carrying a sniper rifle. Archetype Entertainment also finally put a date on the sci-fi RPG: April 7, 2027.
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons got an extended gameplay showing, giving us a much better look at its third-person combat, magical traversal and exploration. It is currently scheduled for 2027.
1001 Threads of Mizan
1001 Threads of Mizan was revealed as a co-op action-adventure inspired by folklore, with giant jinn, plenty of combat and up to three players working together.
Silver Palace: House of Greed
Silver Palace returned with another gameplay trailer showing more of its stylish detective RPG action, before taking a much darker turn with the House of Greed content. There’s still no release date.
Monster Hunter Outlanders
The mobile Monster Hunter spin-off got another trailer, this time putting the formidable Rugar Aidal front and centre while showing more exploration and monster hunting.
Metro 2039
4A Games gave us a proper new look at Metro 2039, including more of The Stranger, combat, mutants, weapon customisation and the series’ familiar miserable tunnels. It arrives in February 2027.
HITMAN World of Assassination – The Herbalist
Because apparently Snoop Dogg appearing in Hitman was inevitable, the rapper is joining the game as Dr. Syrus Cane in a new celebrity Elusive Target called The Herbalist. The mission goes live on August 27.
AION 2
NCSoft showed a fresh Gamescom trailer for AION 2 and confirmed that the MMORPG will launch globally on October 5.
Afterworld
Paradox officially revealed Afterworld, a new post-apocalyptic strategy game built around leading survivors, settlements, politics and conflict in a ruined world.
Petit Planet
HoYoverse’s much more familiar-looking side came back with Petit Planet, a cosy life sim featuring farming, cooking and plenty of cute neighbours. It is targeting a winter release.
Mewgenics
Mewgenics is heading to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on September 8 following its PC launch earlier this year. The announcement was accompanied by a live performance of music from the game, naturally.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 made a quick appearance with its launch trailer, serving up another burst of co-op Xenomorph blasting.
1666: Amsterdam
1666: Amsterdam received an Early Access launch trailer during the show, with the game entering Early Access on August 25.
Showa American Story
Showa American Story remains gloriously difficult to explain, and its new in-game trailer did nothing to change that. Expect zombies, over-the-top action and its bizarre alternate version of America heavily influenced by Japanese culture.
Road Kings
The trucking simulator Road Kings got a new release date trailer showing more life on the road. It launches on March 11, 2027.
Stage Tour
Stage Tour returned with another look at its Guitar Hero and Rock Band-style rhythm gameplay, including its setlists and support for instrument controllers. It launches on December 10.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour
Sega finally showed multiplayer for Crazy Taxi: World Tour, giving us a better idea of how its chaotic driving works when several players are thrown into the same city. The game is expected in 2027.
Turok: Origins
Turok: Origins received a new story trailer packed with dinosaurs, gunfire and plenty of blood. Saber Interactive’s three-player co-op shooter is now targeting spring 2027.
GRAVHOUNDS
GRAVHOUNDS is a new co-op action game from developers with experience on Halo and Battlefield, starring heavily armed anthropomorphic dogs because apparently that is where we are now. A playtest and Early Access release are planned.
LEGO Skylines
Cities: Skylines and LEGO is one of those combinations that immediately makes sense. LEGO Skylines takes Paradox’s city-building formula and applies it to a world made entirely from bricks, although no release date was announced.
Transport Fever 3
Transport Fever 3 got a release date trailer showing more of its expanded transport empire building across land, sea and air. It launches on September 26.
Exterminauts
Exterminauts was revealed as a new co-op shooter about taking extermination jobs that just happen to involve hordes of hostile aliens. No release date was announced.
Path of Exile 2
Path of Exile 2 is finally leaving Early Access. Version 1.0 launches on December 11, when the game will become free-to-play, with swords also being added as a new weapon type.
Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake
Ubisoft is remaking one of the most beloved strategy games around with Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake. The new version will also include content from the original game’s two expansions, although there is no release date yet.
NO LAW
The Ascent developer Neon Giant showed another look at NO LAW, its grimy “cybergrunge” first-person shooter packed with neon, guns and a suitably unpleasant-looking future. It is due in 2027.
Project ZETA
Project ZETA made an appearance with a new trailer for its team-based competitive multiplayer action. Details remain fairly thin for now, but this was another proper look at the game in motion.
CINDER CITY
NCSoft showed a new trailer for CINDER CITY, its tactical third-person shooter set in a devastated near-future world. The game is now available to wishlist, but still does not have a release date.
ONTOS
Frictional Games showed the first proper gameplay from ONTOS, its unsettling new first-person sci-fi horror game and spiritual follow-up of sorts to SOMA. It is scheduled for 2027.
Pony Island 2: Panda Circus
Daniel Mullins’ Pony Island 2: Panda Circus remains every bit as strange as you would expect, bouncing between 2D, 3D and live-action elements in its latest trailer. It launches on April 27, 2027.
ZOOPUNK
The team behind F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch showed more of ZOOPUNK, another action game in the same universe with anthropomorphic warriors taking on armies of machines.
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
Restore an old hotel during the day, deal with its supernatural problems at night. There Are No Ghosts at the Grand brought another look at its odd mix of renovation game, musical and ghost-hunting adventure, and enters Early Access in December.
Roco Kingdom
Roco Kingdom is bringing its open-world multiplayer creature-catching RPG to a wider audience. The new trailer also confirmed a closed beta beginning on October 27.
The Defiant
The Defiant got another trailer for its single-player narrative FPS set on the Chinese front during World War II, a setting that games in the genre rarely explore.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Square Enix brought a new cinematic trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with a heavy focus on the enormous Weapons that Cloud and company will have to deal with in the final chapter of the remake trilogy.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered
Then came the actual surprise of the night. CD Projekt Red announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, a free upgrade for existing owners that improves visuals, rendering, movement, combat, animations and other systems. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are also being made free for owners of the base game, with the Remastered update arriving on September 29.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past
The show finally closed with the first proper look at Songs of the Past, the upcoming new expansion for The Witcher 3. Geralt is heading into a completely new region with new quests, monsters and even a chain weapon, with CD Projekt Red positioning it as one final adventure before the series moves on. It launches sometime in 2027.
