Dubai just launched its own Netflix rival — and it’s putting family safety first

Dubai’s new family-focused streaming service debuts with 20+ exclusive series, 170+ films, and live sports. Features robust parental controls and Arabic content produced to international standards.

Dubai+ is officially here — and it’s not just another streaming service trying to grab your attention. Dubai’s digital transformation takes another major step with this family-first platform launching 30 January, offering 20+ exclusive series and a promise that parents won’t need to hover over the remote.

According to the Government of Dubai Media Office’s press release, Dubai Media Incorporated built this as more than entertainment — it’s positioning Dubai as the Middle East’s content creation powerhouse.

What Dubai+ actually offers

The numbers tell the story: 20+ exclusive series, six original productions, over 170 international films, and live sports covering 12 championships. But the real differentiator is the family safety approach — robust classification systems and transparent viewing controls that let parents actually relax during family movie night.

“We are proud to introduce a platform that places family safety at the heart of the viewing experience,” said Salem Balyouha, Chief Executive Officer of Media Content at Dubai Media Incorporated. “This commitment is reflected not only in the nature of the content we offer, but also in clear selection standards, robust classification systems, and transparent viewing controls.”

The platform features Arabic dubbing and subtitles, plus a dedicated focus on Emirati and Arab content produced to international standards.

The strategy behind the launch

This isn’t just Dubai Media jumping on the streaming bandwagon — it’s part of a bigger vision. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, explained that “Dubai+ reflects the emirate’s ambitious vision to keep pace with global shifts in media and digital broadcasting.”

Mohamed AlMulla, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media Incorporated, positioned the launch as embodying “Dubai Media’s strategy to build a fully integrated digital media ecosystem that strengthens its global competitiveness while delivering high-quality, diverse, and innovative content.”

The platform also serves as a nurturing ground for regional media talent, supporting local production and expanding partnerships to help Arab content reach global audiences.

Technical capabilities and user experience

Dubai Media Incorporated’s teams built advanced digital infrastructure with rigorous testing to ensure performance on par with leading global platforms. The platform is designed to handle a rich slate of programming and sports content, with live television channels alongside on-demand offerings.

Future phases will expand content offerings and deepen audience engagement, positioning Dubai+ as an integrated digital destination for Arab audiences across the region.

How to access Dubai+ in UAE

Dubai+ is now available to UAE audiences following its launch on 30 January. The platform offers Arabic dubbing and subtitle options across its content library. The service is currently free, and the platform is designed to work across multiple devices with a user experience comparable to major international streaming services.
