What are du’s new summer roaming bundles?
du has launched three new weekly roaming bundles aimed squarely at the summer travel rush, and they are cheaper to read than most operator small print. According to the announcement carried by Zawya, the line-up is a data-only bundle and two combo bundles that add voice minutes on top.
| Bundle | Price | Allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Data-only (weekly) | AED 70 | 5GB data |
| Combo (weekly) | AED 100 | 5GB data + 50 voice minutes |
| Combo (weekly) | AED 200 | 30GB data + 300 voice minutes |
All three are subscribable through the du App, so there is no fiddling with SMS keywords for these particular bundles. The jump from the AED 100 tier to AED 200 is the interesting one: double the price, six times the data, and six times the minutes. If you are the type who treats hotel Wi-Fi with suspicion, the top tier is doing most of the heavy lifting here.
What changed for existing du plans?
du has also upgraded some of its existing roaming bundles rather than leaving current customers behind. The operator says it has doubled voice allowances on selected plans, bumped data on certain bundles from 2GB to 10GB, and added unlimited data on higher-tier options.
What du does not say is exactly which legacy bundles got which upgrade — the wording sticks to examples rather than a plan-by-plan breakdown. Anyone relying on an older bundle should check the current allowance in the du App before assuming their plan is the one that quintupled in size. Still, upgrading existing plans instead of quietly retiring them is the right call, and it means loyal customers are not forced onto the new weekly bundles to see any benefit.
How do UAE travellers activate roaming before a trip?
du roaming bundles cover more than 120 destinations, and customers can keep up to five bundles active at the same time, which is genuinely useful for multi-stop summer itineraries. That flexibility lets you stack a shorter high-usage bundle over a longer-validity data pack without cancelling one to add the other.
Timing matters depending on the bundle type. Data-only roaming bundles can be bought up to 60 days before you fly and only activate once you start roaming abroad, which makes them ideal for pre-trip planning. Voice-and-data bundles behave differently — they activate immediately at the point of purchase, even if you buy them in the UAE, so it is worth waiting until closer to departure before adding one.
For travellers staying within the region, du also runs separate GCC bundles — a 3-day 5GB pack at AED 99 and a 10-day unlimited-data pack at AED 199 — which sit apart from these new global weekly bundles. This is not du’s first summer roaming push, either; the operator has previously offered an unlimited roaming data bundle at AED 350, so the pattern of seasonal roaming promotions is well established. The verdict on the refreshed line-up: for short European or long-haul trips the AED 200 tier is the standout, while the GCC-specific packs remain the smarter buy for anyone hopping around the Gulf.
