Clap of Flour, a pasta bar built around dough rolled fresh daily, has opened at Canal Front on the Dubai Canal. It runs from 8am to 11pm, with handmade pasta, pastries and coffee on the menu and Burj Khalifa views across the water.
The restaurant is the latest concept from Glee Hospitality Group, the UAE operator behind the multi-award-winning CLAP Dubai in DIFC and Le Majlis, a French-Emirati spot at Nakheel Mall. Its pitch is a pasta bar where diners can watch the dough being made rather than trust the kitchen’s word for it.
The pasta bar sits at the centre of the room, with dough rolled fresh each day. The restaurant’s own reels show the process: ribbons of tagliatelle cut, floured and piled into nests in front of the counter.
The interior keeps to the casual brief: wooden flooring, wooden tables and chairs, textured finishes and mirrors, bar stools along the counter and natural light through the day. Cosy nooks do the sitting-around-with-coffee work.
The full menu has yet to be unveiled. For now the expectation is comforting Italian dishes alongside the fresh pasta, with pastries and coffee carrying the morning shift.
The opening continues a busy stretch for Dubai’s F&B scene: CRUNCH café landed on Al Wasl Road last week, and OTHER, from the Moon Slice team, opened in Dar Al Wasl before that.
With the canal-front stretch filling in and the cooler months ahead, the waterfront seating is the draw.
