That puts the project on a different track from a direct retelling of the Hunter’s journey through Yharnam. Sony announced the R-rated animated film at CinemaCon 2026, with PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation involved. McLoughlin also claimed he has substantial input into the production, including helping decide who is hired. He described himself as a “vibe-checker” whose job is to make sure the people working on the film understand Bloodborne rather than treating it as a familiar name attached to a generic horror project.
