Blizzard Entertainment has announced the Blizzard Showcase 2026, a series of four online presentations set for late January and early February. The developer-led streams will reveal future plans for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Diablo, as reported by Video Games Chronicle. The event will act as a lead-up to the return of the company’s flagship convention, BlizzCon, later in the year.
A lead-up to BlizzCon’s return
The announcement positions the showcase as the start of a bigger year for Blizzard, following the cancellation of BlizzCon in 2025. The company had previously confirmed the popular fan convention would return in 2026, and this series of online spotlights appears to be the first step in building towards that larger event. This new format allows the developer to give each franchise dedicated attention amid ongoing rumours ahead of BlizzCon 2026 about potential new projects.
“We’re kicking off 2026 with the Blizzard Showcase, a series of developer-led spotlights featuring big announcements, sneak peeks, and teases across our universes,” the company said in a statement. “With BlizzCon 2026 on the horizon, this is only the beginning.”
What to expect from each showcase
The showcase is divided into four distinct presentations, each focusing on a single franchise. The series begins with a ‘State of Azeroth’ update for World of Warcraft, a title that continues to be a major player in a genre that recently saw the cancellation of a new Lord of the Rings MMO. Spotlights for Overwatch and Hearthstone will follow in early February. The event concludes with a presentation celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Diablo franchise, where details on the future of the series are expected.
