AWS Saudi Arabia says its first cloud region in the Kingdom remains on track to launch in December 2026. The company also plans to make up to 50 megawatts of capacity available in a Saudi AI Zone with HUMAIN by 2028, building on its 2024 infrastructure announcement.

AWS Saudi Arabia region is due in December 2026
The new region will give developers, startups, businesses and public-sector organisations the option to run applications and store customer content in Saudi Arabia. AWS says the region will launch with three Availability Zones, and its arrival will bring the company’s global total to 40 regions.
AWS first announced the project in March 2024, with a planned investment of more than US$5.3 billion, or about SAR19.88 billion. Reuters reported at the time that the data centres were expected to open in 2026; AWS has now provided a December target.
Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, said the region and HUMAIN partnership would support new industries and jobs.
“The launch of our new Region and our partnership with HUMAIN will deliver the full-stack cloud and AI infrastructure to help power new industries, create jobs, and accelerate the goals of Vision 2030.”

HUMAIN AI Zone will add up to 50MW
The AI Zone will include AWS Trainium chips and NVIDIA infrastructure for AI training and inference. HUMAIN’s ALLAM Arabic large language model is also due to become available through Amazon Bedrock, while HUMAIN Fabric will be listed on AWS Marketplace. AWS outlined the wider partnership in its May 2025 announcement.
AWS says Saudi organisations including stc Group, Almosafer and Abdul Latif Jameel will run AI workloads on its services. The company is also working with Saudi universities and government bodies on cloud and AI training. Amazon Academy aims to train more than 100,000 Saudi citizens, while a separate initiative is intended to train up to 10,000 women at no charge.
The Saudi region adds to AWS’s existing Middle East infrastructure in Bahrain and the UAE. Tbreak previously reported on AWS training at MBZUAI and Snowflake’s UAE launch on AWS.
