Aqara has announced five new lighting products at IFA 2026, all offering Matter over Thread as well as Zigbee connectivity. The Aqara smart lighting range covers a floor lamp, a downlight, an LED strip and two outdoor systems, with no prices or release dates confirmed yet.
Aqara smart lighting adds Thread to the usual Zigbee setup
The Floor Lamp T1, LED Downlight T2, LED Strip T2, Outdoor String Lights H1 and Permanent Outdoor Lights H1 can connect through Thread to Matter-compatible smart-home platforms. That includes Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant and Homey, according to HomeKit News.
Thread mode removes the need for an Aqara Zigbee hub, but it still needs a compatible Thread Border Router. Recent HomePods and Apple TV models can provide that function for Apple Home setups. Zigbee remains available for deeper links with Aqara sensors, switches, hubs and Aqara Home automations. It follows Aqara’s wider move towards Matter support, including the Matter-ready camera plans covered by tbreak. The company’s earlier Matter-certified camera launch shows where that cross-platform push started.
Aqara’s own IFA 2026 announcement also lists 2,000K–9,000K tuneable white lighting, Apple Adaptive Lighting and AI-assisted personalisation among the Smart Lighting Series features.
Five new Aqara lights, from floor lamps to rooflines
The Floor Lamp T1 is 1,420mm tall and uses 18 individually controllable zones, with a 1,000-lumen maximum output and a 2,000K–9,000K white-temperature range. Aqara says its 16-bit, five-channel chip supports gradients and animated effects.
The LED Downlight T2 comes in RGB CCT and CCT-only versions. The RGB model supports 16 million colours, while the CCT version reaches up to 1,200 lumens and remembers its state after a power cut. The LED Strip T2 has 108 LEDs per metre, 18 zones per three-metre section, music-reactive effects and trimming for cabinets or shelving.
The Outdoor String Lights H1 and Permanent Outdoor Lights H1 take the same multizone approach outside. The latter is designed to stay installed year-round, can be extended and cut for different rooflines, and is weatherproof.
Aqara is also showing Aqara Builder at IFA, a community platform for enthusiasts, developers, installers and creators to share smart-home projects and automation ideas.
Availability and UAE pricing
Aqara has not announced prices or release dates for any of the five lights. The products are being demonstrated at IFA in Berlin from 4–8 September 2026, at Hall 1.2, Booth 157. There is no UAE availability or pricing information in the announcement yet.
