Dubai Summer Surprises is bringing back 10 Dirham Dish from 3 to 30 August, with more than 170 restaurants serving a selected dish or treat for AED 10 across 700-plus locations, according to organisers.
Run by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the month-long campaign covers malls, cafés, food halls and neighbourhood dining spots. No bookings or vouchers are required: walk into any participating outlet and ask for its AED 10 dish. The only real difficulty is choosing which one.
Asian flavours lead this year’s line-up. The Noodle House offers chicken siew mai, Sumo Sushi & Bento serves cheese rolls and mix gyoza, and Shanghai Kitchen pairs steamed momos with iced tea. Seoul Street Café’s mango and matcha bingsoo are aimed at anyone losing the argument with August, while Shake Shack’s New York plain hot dog, Pret A Manger’s Americano with pastel de nata, and Texas Chicken’s Mega Bites sandwich meal cover the grab-and-go crowd.
Regional classics hold their ground: the Iraqi kebab arouq sandwich at Feka, pav bhaji at Mumbai Junction and Kailash Parbat, and a malai kulfi stick at Dhaba Lane. Sweet finishes include Baskin Robbins’ Kids Scoop Sundaes — Beach Sunset, Mango Sticky Rice and Cinnamon Latte Crunch among the flavours — Cold Stone Creamery’s Birthday Cake Remix, Gelato Divino’s two-topping classico cup and House of Pops’ handcrafted ice pops. Coffee stops get the same treatment: Costa Coffee pairs its Chocolate Swirl pastry with an Americano, and Caribou Coffee serves coffee with a croissant, all for AED 10.
