The Logitech Anywhere mouse is a bit smaller than your average desktop mouse- especially for my largish hands, but has an excellent grip all around it meaning it wont slip out of your hands easily. The back side has a nice sliding power switch labeled “Darkfield” with the battery compartment as well as the micro receiver’s storage compartment under it.

The top has two buttons and a four-way scroll wheel which can be pressed to switch between the click scroll mode or the free scrolling mode found in other Logitech rodents. Below the scroll wheel you have the “All Windows” button which is configured for Expose on a Mac and , I’m guessing, Alt-Tab in Windows. The left side of the unit has two thumb buttons that, by default, will let you navigate between web pages.

With the two AA batteries inside, the Anywhere Mouse MX becomes a bit weighty which is good as it sticks to the surface. Logitech’s selling point for this mouse is the Darkfield technology which makes the mouse work on any surface, including glass which, if you remember, is one of the only surfaces that Microsoft’s competing Blue Track technology isn’t that great with. I tested the Anywhere MX on many different typs of surfaces including glass tables, wooden tables, my jeans as well as anti-static bags that motherboards are kept it and this little rodent had no issues whatsoever.

One thing I can’t comment on is the battery life on this mouse. A pair of batteries should last you over three months which is a bit lower than other Logitech mice of late, but I did not have the mouse for that long so cant really comment. Other than that, left-handed people might complain because of the thumb buttons but if you can get over that, the mouse looks like it would be equally comfortable in your left or right hand.

Overall, the Anywhere Mouse MX might be the mouse I’ve used in years. It really is that good. Its also quite pricey for a mouse costing about AED 300 (US$80) which, I must say is quite a bit on the higher side. Even so, I highly recommend it.
