Google has been working on a new version of its voice assistant, codenamed Bard, that promises to be faster, smarter, and more conversational than ever before. Bard is expected to debut on the Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 and S23 phones, giving them an edge over the competition.

Bard is Google’s answer to Apple’s Siri, which has been improved by using Apple Silicon chips in the latest iPhones and iPads. Bard will use Google’s Tensor chip, designed to handle artificial intelligence tasks such as natural language processing, speech recognition, and computer vision.

According to sources, Bard can handle complex queries and commands without an internet connection, thanks to the Tensor chip’s onboard memory and processing power. Users can ask Bard anything, from booking a flight to playing a game, without lag or interruption.

More Conversational

Bard will also be able to understand the context and intent of the user’s voice and respond accordingly. For example, if the user says, “Show me the weather,” Bard will not only display the current weather conditions but also suggest relevant actions, such as “Do you want to set a reminder for your umbrella?” or “Do you want to see the forecast for tomorrow?”

Bard will also be able to converse with the user in a natural and friendly way, using humour, emotion, and personality. For example, if the user says, “Tell me a joke,” Bard will not only tell a joke but also react to the user’s laughter or groan. Bard will also be able to adapt to the user’s preferences and habits over time, learning from their feedback and behaviour.

Exclusive Roll Out for a Limited Time

Bard will be exclusive to the Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 and S23 phones for a limited time before rolling out to other Android devices. This is part of Google’s strategy to showcase its Tensor chip and its capabilities and attract more users to its Pixel and Samsung phones.
