According to the guys over at StatCounter, their latest global report on web browser usage shows that for the first time ever, Google’s Chrome browser has overtaken Mozilla’s Firefox. Though both browsers still don’t hold the position of top dog, an honour reserved for Internet Explorer for now, it still marks a milestone in the growth of Chrome.

The stats go on to show that during November, google’s market share went up to 25.7% a rather large number considering that back in 2009 chrome only had 4.66% of the market. Firefox raked in 25.2% for november while both browsers were dwarfed by Internet Explorer who boasted a comfortable 40.6%.

Engadget goes on to show that Chrome seems to be the only browser experiencing such drastic growth with both IE and firefox seeing their numbers dwindling.

BlueStack emulates Android OS on Windows to use your favorite apps on your PC.

BlueStacks have released their Android app players which allows you to run Android apps in a virtual environment on PC in full screen. This software for Windows, comes preloaded with many android apps and you can install more via their service. There is also BlueStacks Cloud connect app on Android market which will allow you to push your mobile apps to your PC so that you can run those apps and games on the big screen too.

Since the virtual environment runs like Google Android emulator, so you will get 100% of same results as on android phone but controls would suffer as most of the apps are made for touch screen and using a mouse and keyboard may not feel just as easy. But the app does support multi-sense touchpads of laptops so that may feel a tad bit better.

Although this software may not be ideal for news or software apps, as PC has alternate of those already. But it does come in handy for exclusive apps and especially games that are released only on android.

Download Android app player @ BlueStacks official site

The new Control Panel gives users a complete overview of their system with multiple layers of security and analysis that they can then use to dig in deeper and fix problems, as well as customize how the antivirus behaves on a daily basis.

uTorrent revs up a paid upgrade version of their popular bittorent software.

uTorrent has become an industry standard for downloading torrents of the internet. Its small size, clean interface and no non-sense features do attract lot of users. But now uTorrent aims to brings you all those extra additions to their basic version and ask you money for using this “PLUS” version.

But what features will be there in uTorrent Plus that will make you pay around $25 when it launches? Check out the list of those additional paid features below:

Drag-and-drop file conversion for transcoding files and then transferring them to other device. The list of supported device profiles right now is: iPod/iPhone, Apple TV/iPad, Xbox 360 and PS3. But you can expect more devices (default profiles) to be added later.

A built-in media player.

Remote file transfers.

Customer support.

Antivirus protection provided by Bitdefender.

The software has entered alpha stage and is being tested for a near future beta and final release. But real question is that are these features really enough for you to pay out extra for a software that does its main job well and for free? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Disclaimer: tbreak media doesn’t support using torrents or other p2p software for downloading illegal or copyright files.

Discounts of 50% for upgrade from any previous version.

Adobe Systems MENA today announced a special promotion, which offers 50 percent discount for Creative Suite users of any previous version, who want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium Suite or Adobe Premiere Pro Creative Suite 5.5.

The top five reasons to upgrade:
1. Broad native format support: Import and export virtually any format and skip time-consuming transcoding and rewrapping processes when working natively with file-based and DSLR footage.

2. Unparalleled Adobe integration: Import native Photoshop® and Illustrator® files complete with layers and other functionality and move easily between After Effects® and Adobe Premiere Pro.

3. Groundbreaking motion graphics with After Effects: Create motion graphics and visual effects with industry-standard After Effects. Rotoscope quickly with Roto Brush, reduce unwanted camera movement with Warp Stabilizer, and create photo-realistic lens blurs using Camera Lens Blur. Deliver to broadcast, film, online, and to mobile devices.

4. Rich 2D and 3D images with Photoshop Extended: Magically remove objects with Content-Aware Fill in Photoshop Extended. Paint with lifelike brush strokes and use creative 3D tools. Roundtrip images and motion-based content to Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Encore.

5. Powerful editing performance: Adobe Premiere Pro is native 64-bit and optimized for modern CPUs, and GPU-accelerated to provide real-time effects, accelerated rendering, and more.

It’s a great offer for anyone with a legal older version of CS to get updated to the latest version but hurry as the offer ends by October 31, 2011.

Handbraking your way to glory!

Watching movies on your computer and on your favorite portable devices has become an increasingly difficult task. Thanks to the plethora of video formats and media players found on the internet, casual computer users are completely lost as to which media player to use and what video format each of these can play.

The same thing goes for iPads, iPhones and Android handsets; each one of these devices can play only a limited range of video formats. To overcome this problem, users usually resort to video converting software to get the job done. Such software is usually costly, and even when it’s available for free, getting through the hectic interfaces can prove to be a daunting task.

Video transcoding, or converting, used to be (and still is) an extremely difficult task to accomplish, but thanks to the talented group of programmers behind Handbrake, it’s been simplified to the point where even the most casual user can convert a video from one format to another successfully and without any hassle.

In this tutorial, I will walk you through the process of transcoding a video to work on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The steps below work for pretty much all operating systems: Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

The competition from Google is certainly keeping them on their heels as Google is already on v14. The following is a partial change log:

• Vastly improved memory usage (up to 50% better) and increased speed
• Added a new rendering backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems
• Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Firefox Sync
• Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis
• Added support for the Web Timing specification
• Added an opt-in system for users to send performance data back to Mozilla to improve future versions of Firefox. This can be enabled by installing an add-on
• Fixed several stability issues

Brings full screen support in Lion and trackpad gestures.

Google has updated Chrome on Mac to v14 and added Lion’s Full Screen support as well as swiping gestures like Safari to move back and forth between pages. While the swipe functions don’t have that cool page sliding effect as you find in Safari, they do work, but without any visual cues which could leave one wondering whether the gesture was recognized or not. Also, in the full screen mode, there is a bit of wasted space occupied by a grey bar on top and the bookmarks toolbar doesn’t disappear either.

These are just minor niggles which should hopefully get sorted in a future release but the functionality is present. Go ahead and check for updates from Chrome or head over to http://www.google.com/chrome to download it.

Microsoft releases Mouse without Borders, a software to control multiple PCs with one keyboard and mouse

Microsoft has released “Mouse without borders”, a personal project of one of their employees who got frustrated with the clutter multiple PCs and handling them made with multiple input devices. Many people use multi monitor setup, and they know how easy and blessing it is to use just moving your mouse to edge of screen takes you to other screen. But what if those two displays are connected to two different machines? This software brings the same functionality to two different machines over the standard network protocol. You can use your one keyboard and mouse move / type / use both the PCs at same time.

The features go beyond this by even allowing drag and drop between the two PCs. Copying files over a network is no magic, but its just easy this software makes it happen by putting a layer of easy drag and drop makes it a thing of beauty indeed.

Download the software @ Microsoft IT site
