“We were very impressed with several of the innovative features that NZXT put on the Switch 810, especially the consideration for pretty extreme water cooling setup with that 85mm of top clearance. The ability to drop a 420mm rad in the top and another 280mm rad in the bottom should be enough cooling for even a quad GPU setup. Placing easy to access filters on the intake fans is a real plus and should keep the dust bunnies to a minimum…”

the iPhone 4, but it is a huge upgrade if you are upgrading from the
iPhone 3GS, as I was. Not only was the screen much sharper (albeit
still the same size!), the iPhone 4S was much faster. Unfortunately, I
also immediately noticed a big problem with the iPhone 4S – its
terrible battery life.

Recently, my brother pointed me to a very nice app called System
Monitor with Battery Max. It’s a 99 cent app that allows you to
monitor the hardware and software of your iDevice. What’s really nifty
about it was it was able to give me a live read of the iPhone 4S’ CPU
load. What we found shocked us – the Apple iPhone 4S had a constantly
high CPU load even when it idles!

QUOTE: “It’s no secret that larger capacity SSDs are faster than the smaller capacity drives. The way data travels can be similar to a highway system, the more lanes a highway has the more cars you can push through at the same time. If SSDs only read and wrote on a one lane highway then we would be limited to less than 200MB/s on the highest rated flash available today. By opening up several lanes drives are able to reach very high speeds and do so without the limits of moving parts.

On the surface the Octane is not a huge performer. OCZ has placed the drive under the Agility 3 yet the Octane costs more than the Vertex 3. You may wonder why the media has taken such an interest in Octane and I can answer that quickly. At CES this year OCZ demoed the Everest 2, the successor to the controller used in Octane, which is a potential candidate for OCZ’s flagship Vertex 4 that should hit be sampling in time for Computex in June. Any time spent decoding the mysteries, finding the strengths and weaknesses of Indilinx’s new SATA III architecture is essentially a dive into the technology OCZ plans to use in the second half of the year.”

“Intel has been one of the mainstays of the SSD world and are one of the most trusted names and respected leaders in the computer industry. Their groundbreaking X25-M SSDs were the gold standard for which all other drives were judged for quite some time. That said, the SandForce SF-2281 controller has been out for close to a year now and featured in drives from just about every SSD manufacturer – so why is Intel just now releasing their SF-2281 SSD, code named Cherryville? In one word, firmware…”

Quote: “Intel appears to be making a habit out of adopting other SSD
controllers and revamping their firmware to make them their own. From
what we’ve seen today, they are indeed very good at it. This is the
best performance we’ve seen out of SandForce hardware paired with IMFT
Synchronous flash. Intel has also guaranteed their workmanship with a
5-year warranty – higher than the 3-year warranty provided by much of
the competition. Unfortunately the delays in getting the 520 Series to
market have given ample time to the competition, and newer controller
tech now exists (Indilinx Everest).”

“There are a vast number of SATA-600 solid state drives on the market at the moment, so there have never been more choices for the people who want to give their system a performance boost. Today we are going to look at the latest SSD from Intel, the 520 Series 240 GB, which is designed with performance users in mind.”

QUOTE: “Being a larger capacity size we compared the drive to the 240GB drives from Team SandForce products and again the Performance Pro performed well. The one area the 256GB Performance Pro didn’t do so well in, well, let me first say in relation to the SF-2281 controlled drives, is when the drive was filled to 50% capacity. In this very important test the Performance Pro 256GB was a bit slower. So, to sum it up the 256GB Performance Pro was very fast, but not fast enough to take the performance crown in its capacity size group.

Today we’re looking at the 128GB model. For me this review started out as another run-and-gun, get it over with because people will want to see it, but I won’t be that impressed type of review. The drive sat on a shelf for a couple of days while I played Battlefield and tried to get over my post CES depression caused mainly by the fact that I can’t get good steak back at home like I can get there. Now that I’ve tested this drive I feel much better, although it would be nice to get some good steak still.”

Here is a snippet:
“Most enthusiasts will favor SSDs for their main boot drive rather than a mechanical hard drive thanks to the vast performance benefits available. However, there is still a large market for high performance mechanical drives which offer a much larger capacity for storage of large files. Today we are going to look at the latest Barracuda hard drive from Seagate, which offers no less than 3 TB of storage space.”
