Mozilla launches Facebook integration for Firefox; check updates and chat with friends directly from the browser.
Mozilla’s Firefox isn’t doing too well. With a dwindling user base, the company is looking for ways to bring some of that sweet market share lost to Chrome and Internet Explorer. One such way is social integration, and today Mozilla took the first step in that direction by launching Facebook integration into Firefox.
By downloading the latest Firefox version, and then enabling it from the Facebook Firefox page, users will get a very Rockmelt-ish Facebook sidebar with a ticker for status updates and the entire friend list on the right. Users will be able to see any Facebook updates they receive, and also chat with their friends directly from Firefox. The below video shows how it’s going to be.
Mozilla says the Facebook integration is “just the start of making Firefox more social,” with its new Social API enabling other developers built similar devices for Firefox.
