Bang & Olufsen today announced the availability of the BeoPlay A9, a stylish speaker that offers amazing audio quality in a compact and stylish design. The circular speaker has interchangeable front covers to seamlessly blend into whichever environment it is installed in, or can be optionally wall-mounted for a more elegant look. The BeoPlay A9 is now available in the UAE for AED 11,025.

Press release: B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen announces the launch of its latest premium sound system, BeoPlay A9. Powerfully original design and unprecedented placement flexibility make it easy to find a place for it next to the rest of your high-end furniture. Raw power refined to jaw-droppingly gorgeous sound will have you rediscovering all your favourite tracks. Wireless music has never looked so clean or sounded this good.

BeoPlay A9 integrates an all-star line-up of dedicated components with provocative design to create a complete sound solution that is as easy to listen to as it is to decorate with. With the launch, B&O PLAY extends its innovative range of wireless sound systems with the most powerful performer yet. And because wireless connectivity and magically simple controls are built in, BeoPlay A9 is ready to keep up with your listening needs as they change throughout the day or night. Just plug it in, connect it wirelessly to your iPhone, iPad or Android device, and BeoPlay A9 starts streaming. The sound is big enough to fill even the most spacious loft, and so lush that it rivals much more complex systems.

Equally at home on the floor or on the wall, BeoPlay A9 is more than willing to both fit in and stand out in your decor. Screw in the wooden legs to place it on the floor right where you need it, or use the wall bracket to add a circular canvass alongside the rest of the art in your home. You can even choose between a range of colours for the fabric cover, and change them in a snap.

According to Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, VP at B&O PLAY, BeoPlay A9 is all about simplicity. “We asked Øivind Slaatto, a young designer who also has a strong interest in music, to create a design that is as free of visual noise as possible, and then had our engineers empower it with truly amazing sound. The result is a liberating take on acoustic performance with a cleanly graphic look that is intuitively easy to use.” Turning the party dial up – or down – has never been simpler. Swipe a hand across the touch sensor to control volume, or mute the system by simply resting a hand on top of it. And of course, you can select tracks and adjust volume with your smartphone or tablet.

BeoPlay A9 packs two ¾-inch tweeters and two 3-inch midrange units, all four driven by separate 80-watt class D amplifiers, to deliver sparkling highs and spaciously defined middle tones. An imposing 8-inch bass unit, powered by no less than 160 watts from its own class D amplifier, lays down authoritative and tightly controlled oomph through the bass reflex construction hidden behind the unit. Three pre-set sound modes for wall, corner or freestanding positions optimize acoustic performance depending on how you choose to fit BeoPlay A9 into your home.

Solid wood legs are available in oak, beech or teak. Fabric covers are available in silver, white, black, red, green and brown.

YouTube gets a new look

YouTube has unveiled a fresh new look that prioritizes channels that a user has subscribed to.

Your YouTube homepage will now center on the YouTube Guide which will alert you when new videos from your subscribed channels are available. The guide will also recommend videos and channels you might like based on what you and your friends regularly watch.

Other design changes include positioning the video on top of the page bringing it front and center to grab viewer attention, subscribe and sharing buttons as well as video information appear directly below the player, and overall the video sharing website now has a cleaner, sparser look. Additionally, playlists are now available to the right of videos, allowing the user to continue browsing other videos while they watch.

User subscriptions and your YouTube guide can be found on other devices beyond the PC, including Android, iPhone, PlayStation 3, and Google TV.

The new design is also aimed at helping YouTube content creators reach bigger fan bases more easily. Alandha Scott, Content Creator Communications Lead from the Official YouTube Partners & Creators Blog, said of the changes, “The new site design will help you build a bigger, more connected audience by improving new channel discovery, simplifying subscriptions, and keeping your fans plugged in and aware of your new videos no matter where they are.”

Do you like YouTube’s new look? Or like a certain social network’s frequent design changes, will you put up with it until you get used to it?
