No word yet on sales of Surface tablet.
If you’re worried about how popular Windows 8 is going to be, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is here to set your mind at ease.
At the company’s Build developer conference, Ballmer said that 4 million copies of Windows 8 have been sold since its launch on Friday. He also noted that ‘tens of millions’ of copies have been shipped to partners as well, adding to the company’s goal of reaching the next billion user base.
But while Microsoft may be celebrating this little victory, Windows 8 has been met with a surge of positive and negative feedback, most noticeably for its steep learning curve, thanks to a new user interface that eliminates the familiar Start Menu feature first introduced in Windows 95. Microsoft are also pushing the marketing for their Surface tablet, however Ballmer didn’t reveal sales figures at the event.
