Offers savings despite no official UAE pricing being announced.
There are many of us who love snatching up deals from the many, many group-buying websites that have popped up in the region. But since it’s GITEX week, I found this particular deal from Groupon to be quite exhilarating.
The deal offers a “Licensed Full Version of Microsoft Windows 8 Professional for AED 399 instead of AED 1400″, which is supposedly a huge savings of AED 1,001. Sounds like a great deal, except that Microsoft haven’t officially announced pricing for the UAE yet, and even so approximate UAE prices (if converted from US pricing) should amount to about AED 560 at least. The offer is also for the digital download edition of Windows, not a retail disc copy.
Quick to spot the errors in this Groupon deal was Twitter maverick @saad_rabia, who posted this very helpful screenshot explaining why the deal makes no sense at all. Feel free to ignore the Windows 7 screenshot used in the deal, as it’s ‘for reference only’.
I’m just wondering about the 4 people who’ve already bought into the deal…
