100mbps already seems slow.
Etisalat today announced the launch of 300Mbps home broadband connection at Gitex. The telecom said that the blazing fast Internet connection will be available as part of the eLife double play and triple pay service by the end of October 2012.
The most apt photo description we could find.
“Fiber-optic network offers a tremendous capacity to keep up with any new technological advancement such as eLife TV, home monitoring and so on. Delivering an even higher performance to home and office customers, the commercial launch of the region’s highest 300Mbps speeds is a major milestone in our fiber-optic roll-out plan for the UAE,” said . Rashed Majed Alabbar, Vice President of Home Products Marketing for Etisalat.
He added, “We are excited to launch the new 300Mbps speed. We are confident on the potential of our fiber-optic broadband network to not only benefit our customers’ social lives, but also drive development in UAE’s businesses and areas such m-health, e-governance and m-education, to name a few.”
300Mbps is incredibly fast, although it would be hard to find servers that can actually support such speeds. Still, this should allow anyone to string together tons and tons of downloads together without even reaching bottleneck. Imagine downloading multiple Steam games at 10mbps each? Dreams.
Etisalat hasn’t revealed the pricing just yet, but I am sure it costs my entire salary.
