1-ups du’s announcement from earlier today.

Just a couple of hours back, we published the news story that du, the telcom operator in the UAE will be the first by selling nano SIM cards in the UAE. Now we have received an email from Etisalat, suggesting they already have the nano SIM available at their business center locations for purchase.

Etisalat announced the wide availability of the nano-SIM card across its Business Centers and Outlets in the UAE, starting 1 October.

Khaled ElKhouly, Chief Marketing Officer at Etisalat, said, “To meet customer demand, Etisalat placed a large order to ensure wide availability of the nano-SIM. Customers can now get the SIM cards at any of Etisalat’s points of sales.”

The nano-SIM cards are compatible with the new iPhone 5 mobile devices. “In a matter of weeks, Etisalat will offer the new iPhone 5 to customers allowing them to choose from a wide range of Etisalat’s plans including some that will offer the device for free. We urge our customers to take advantage of Etisalat’s upcoming iPhone 5 bundled plans and experience it on the country’s first and widest 4G LTE network,” confirmed ElKhouly.

Etisalat’s 4G LTE network supports Internet speeds of up to 150Mbps and allows customers to enjoy speed-demanding apps such as video-streaming, networked gaming and much more. It covers more than 80% of the country’s populated areas and provides high-speed reliable 4G connectivity.

Etisalat is asking consumers to hold-off purchasing the iPhone 5 from grey market and that they will have the official version for purchase within a matter of weeks with bundled plans and 4G LTE network compatibility.

the question is, will they allow facetime?

  • Will

BEWARE: Etisalat does not support dual nano sims so if you have an iPad with a micro sim Etisalat will force you to buy a new subscription if you get an iphone 5. So basically buying a new iPhone 5 will mean that they will want more money from you. If you use 3G on two devices Think twice before you make the move.
