iPad Mini, new iMacs and Retina 13″ MacBook Pro.
Apple showed off a lot of goodies at their event earlier today. The star of the show was the much leaked iPad Mini which is a redesigned iPad 2 in a smaller form factor. It has the same A5 CPU and resolution as the iPad 2 in a smaller 7.9″ display. It is also impressively thin and light at just 7.2mm and 300 grams.
Pricing starts at US$ 329 for the 16GB WiFi model and goes up to $529 for the 64GB LTE model. The iPad 3 also got updated with an A6X CPU, HD Facetime camera and global LTE.
Next in line is the new redesigned iMac which is insanely thin measuring just 5mm on the edges. It still comes in 21.5″ and 27″ and can be equipped with the latest Intel Core i5 or i7 CPUs and the latest kepler GPUs from NVIDIA all the way upto the GTX680MX.
Pricing for the new iMacs starts at $1299 for the 21.5″ and $1799 for the 27″. You can optionally purchase them with fusion drives that are basically hybrid drives with a combination of 128GB flash and 1-3GB mechanical platters. The Mac Mini also got updated with the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 quad core CPU and USB 3.0 ports.
Finally, Apple also updated their 13″ MacBook Pro with a retina model that has a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. Unlike the 15″, the 13.3″ MBPP retina does not have a discreet GPU and relies on the Intel HD4000 graphics along with Core i5 or i7 CPUs.
The 13″ retina starts at US $1699 and comes with a 128GB flash drive and is available today.
