If the grey-import iPhone 5 wasn’t already priced high enough, you now have an option to purchase an even more expensive 24 karat gold plated version in the UAE. There is a post on dubizzle selling the 16GB white iPhone with a 24K Gold plated on the back for AED 7,000 (US$2,000)

I’m sure the unit will not be on sale for a long time but you can contact the seller if a shiny new iPhone 5 is your thing. Other than the gold plating, the unit is identical to a regular 16GB iPhone 5 which features an A6 processor and a 4 inch retina display. The iPhone 5 is expected to be released officially across the UAE in the first week of November at the same price as the iPhone 4S. Nano SIM cards are already available from both the leading telcos- du and etisalat.
