Samsung’s new TV ad pokes fun at iPhone 5 line-waiters

Samsung is at it again.

In a new TV commercial, Samsung targets Apple fanatics waiting in line for the new iPhone 5. Of course, Apple or the iPhone 5 are never mentioned by name but the ad lampoons those who suffer long queues for the latest gadget.

The new dock connector, LTE and larger screen features of the iPhone 5 are all referenced and made fun of. While Samsung S3 features like 4G LTE (which S3 users have had for a year), sharing music playlists with a tap using S-Beam, or WiFi direct photo sharing are shown off. The spot ends with the line, “the next big thing is already here.”

It may be remembered that only a few days ago Samsung came out with a print advertisement comparing iPhone 5 and S3 features with the tagline “It doesn’t take a genius.” Irate Apple fans responded to the ‘bullying’ and created their own rebuttal versions of the ad that quickly spread on the internet.

Whether you agree with Samsung’s advertising tactics or not, it will be interesting to see the response this latest ad will evoke. I will get the popcorn.
