LinkedIn introduces Endorsements – Just like Facebook Likes

But more serious.

LinkedIn has announced a new feature called Endorsements as a way to make it easier to “recognize professionals for their skills and expertise.” Think about it as a professional version of ‘Likes’ and perhaps a way to add more credibility to your skills.

LinkedIn already has Likes for status updates and posts but as the company explains, endorsements are more serious and well…professional. With the new feature, all it will take is “one click to endorse your connections for a skill they’ve listed on their profile or recommend one they haven’t added yet.”

Endorsing is easy and can be done from the new Skills & Expertise section. Users will also see recommended endorsements on the top of a profile for any of your connections and suggest additional skills as well. If someone endorses you, LinkedIn will notify you via email, besides showing up on the network itself.

Endorsements has been launched in the United States, India, New Zealand and Australia. LinkedIn said it will expand to other countries in different languages in “the next few weeks.”

Check out the company’s slideshow below that shows how the new feature works.
