First home theater projector to feature short-throw technology.
Press Release: Sony Professional launched the VPL-BW120S, the latest home theatre projector in the MEA market. The VPL-BW120S is Sony’s first home theatre projector to feature the space-saving and glare-less short throw technology by Sony.
Ideal for home use, the short throw technology features negate the need for a ceiling mounted projector or even the need for space between the projector and the screen. With the new VPL-BW120S, images of 100 inch can be viewed in just a distance of 1.3 metres between the projector and the screen rather than the prerequisite of 4.4 to 4.8 metres required in normal projectors. The VPL-BW120S projects image clarity at high brightness of 2,600 lm, making it possible to view the images under any lighting conditions. With rich colour reproduction, high contrast ration and 12-Bit Gamma Correction for smooth colour gradations, the new home theatre projector provides premium picture quality for sports, gaming and movie content.
“We have seen great interest from consumers to replicate theatre-like experiences in their homes; however what hindered this move was the expense involved in such a replication as well as the aesthetic barriers of placing projectors in a living room. We expect the VPL-BW120S to be well received by this audience as it is designed to ensure that families and friends enjoy clear projection without compromising on clarity, space and energy efficiency” said Hidenori Taguchi, Head of Marketing, B2B Products and Solutions at Sony Professional Solutions MEA. “With Sony’s VPL-BW120S, families will not have to arrange their living arrangement around the projector – but instead can easily fit the projector into their existing living arrangement”.
The lightweight and portable design of the VPL-BW120S with built in speakers complements the easy set-up process which makes the projector truly mobile and all-encompassing. Befitting Sony Professional’s range of projectors, the VPL-BW120S retains energy efficient features such as the long lasting lamp and a power saving mode that turns the projector off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
The new line of projectors will be available towards the end of August 2012
