iMore is reporting that the new iPhone will be unveiled on September 12th, with pre orders beginning the same day. The shiny new device will be hitting the US on September 21st and internationally in October, with October 5th being the most likely date. The website reports that the information comes from sources that have provided them with accurate iPhone related launch dates in the past.

The source of much tech excitement (techcitment?), the new sixth generation iPhone is reported to include a longer 4-inch design, a 640-by-1,136 resolution, redesigned nano-SIM card slot, LTE connectivity, larger battery and 9-pin connector.

Fuelling the rumours, several retailers in the US have begun discounting their existing stock of the iPhone 4 and 4S, in an attempt to keep the units moving until the new model is available.

Whether the September 12th announcement will include the alleged iPad Mini remains to be seen.

No official announcement has been made by Apple.
