“…it just adds one more competitor.”
We’ve heard PC manufacturers aren’t jumping with joy after hearing that Microsoft will be making their own tablet for the release of Windows 8. Indeed Acer’s CEO has come out and publicly stated his dissatisfaction about Microsoft’s Surface tablet and how it will be competing against their own Windows 8 tablets.
And now with their recent Q1 2013 earnings call, even Lenovo has made some comments about the Surface tablet.

“Although we don’t like Microsoft providing hardware, for us, it just adds one more competitor,” said Lenovo’s CEO, Yang Yuanqing, during the conference call in response to analyst’s question, according to CNET. ”They are strong in software, but [we] don’t believe they can provide the best hardware in the world. Lenovo can,” he continued.
Of course, being one of their biggest partners, he did say that, ”we’re not that worried about [Surface]. Microsoft is still our strategy partner. We are very optimistic on the Windows 8 launch so we will fully leverage that to launch our new products.”
