“Please say a command after the beep.”
As Crackberry reports, RIM has updated the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha version with a number of improvements, including a more capable voice-command feature which can do tasks much like Siri or other voice-controlled PAs.
As you can see in the video below, the voice command feature is rather, ahem, old school where you must “say a command after the beep”. It’s rather silly now that we are so used to the slick and visually engaging apps like Siri and S-Voice, but we are hoping that this is a work-in-progress and RIM will add a more appealing UI to it later in the development process.
The functionality can be used to add appointments, goto web addresses, check the weather, etc. It’s not 100% ready material yet, as it consistently misses the mark, but BlackBerry fans should be happy to know that such a feature will be available when the new OS launches next year.
