Nokia accidentally leaks Lumia 1001?

Lumia 910 not the flagship handset any more.

Over the weekend some news came out that people started discovering unannounced Nokia devices via their RDA tools, one of which was the Lumia 910 as reported by NokiaPowerUser. Soon after that Tech Crunch discovered the Lumia 1001 as well.

Basically the Remote Device Access (RDA) tool allows a developer to remotely test their apps on Nokia handsets through the browser. Considering the large jump in the numerical naming scheme, this suggests that the Lumia 1001 may just be Nokia’s first (Windows 8) tablet, or possibly their first Windows 8 based smartphone.

Since the Nokia Lumia 900 was first leaked the same way last year, there’s a good chance that this rumor is true, and that Nokia purposely “leaked” the handset model name in RDA tools to ramp up the hype. In any case, don’t expect the hansdet (or tablet) to be out before Fall, when Windows 8 will officially be released.
