New site features tighter social integration and streamlined look.

Digg teased a few mock-ups of Digg v1, which is set to launch later this week. The team is hard at work trying to bring back the site to its former glory days, and is adamant that they will be able to do so in time.

The new site seems to be very photo-focused, or at least appears so from the initial designs. It will also offer better integration into Facebook and Twitter, but won’t allow commenting at launch, which is a feature that the team thinks requires a lot of time and effort to effectively implement. There will be however a ‘Digg score’ next to items, which is a tall of how many times a particular item has been shared across various social networks. The new Digg will also have better support for mobile devices, and dedicated apps are already in the works. There will also be moderators in place to filter through posts and pick out particular stories to feature on the front page.
