Social site to now use the new logo as a ‘universal symbol’ of recognition.
Twitter has unveiled a new logo – a cutesy little blue bird they say will now be used as the “universally recognizable symbol of Twitter.” That means that the site will no longer use subtitles, or bubbled typefaces, or a lowercase “t” to represent itself, “Twitter is the bird, the bird is Twitter,” they say.
The new design has a bit of geometry to it, born out of the love for “ornithology”, a branch of zoology that studies birds. “This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles — similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.”
Twitter has made available it’s brand new logo for designers to be used immediately. You can find it here.
