Deceptively small.

Good: Fast performance, responsive chassis, great looks, and roomy interior.
Bad: Center console area feels empty, perhaps the navigation screen should've been there.
Price: AED 124,900/ AED 138,400 (w/ S-Line suspension, seats and badges)

As Audi’s marketing slogan went for the A1, this is indeed their “next big car”. Joining the race for the hottest hatch on the market, Audi launched the new A1 late last year in our region. And today we get a chance to look at the latest S-Line trim on the A1, dubbed Ambition, featuring a more powerful engine and better styling than the regular A1.

One of the most obvious things about the S-Line trim is how aggressive the car looks compared to the regular A1. Gone is the timid, yet funky looks, replaced with a sharp looking bodykit and extremely huge tires.

Starting from the front, instead of the rounded bumper we get straighter lines, and sharper angles around the air vents, with a lower lip to give the typical angry look on the A1. The LED lights further accentuate that feeling of a mean looking hatch.

On the sides we have lowered skirts, but what really steals the show are the 18-inch gunmetal 5-spoke “Rotor” design wheels. More impressive are the Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires wrapped around the rims, hardly leaving any space in the wheel arches.

The back looks pretty much the same as the regular A1, except there’s a small lip going across the exhaust pipes and the rear spoiler has sporty groove in the middle. Additionally our tester came with the full S-Line sports package, which adds sports suspension, S-Line badges on the front and inside.
