Battle of the mid-range AMDs.

Test Setup

For testing the ASUS HD 7870 DCUII TOP and XFX R7870 BE the below testbed was used.

I have used the reference AMD HD 7870 tested a month back to show the performance improvements these custom solutions from ASUS and XFX bring to the table. Furthermore the Nvidia GTX 580 is also used to show how these mid-$350 cards compare to the (now reduced in price) $400+ card.

Note: Keep in mind that these two new cards were tested on Catalyst 12.4 which brings much improvements over the 12.12 beta release used to test the AMD reference HD 7870.

Benchmarks & Settings

Below are the details of how each benchmark was conducted with specific details of settings used. All of the below benchmarks were run at a resolution of 1920×1080.

From auditing to editing, I now test and analyze the latest gadgets and games instead of the latest financial statements. Both jobs are equally intense and rewarding. When I'm not burning up hardware in the name of science, you'll find me nuking in DOTA 2 or engineering in TF2.

Where can you buy the asus card at?

    • Taimoor Hafeez

Most places in Al-Ain center should have it. Try Golden Systems or FDC, etc. and most of these guys should have them in stock.

  • Dani

Both cards have special heatsinks and also come factory overclocked to some extent.

these benchmark are not made too well i think… in batman and metro there is too much range… is not possible to double fps just with changing the manufacturer.
    >Or anyway these range are too wide
