The end is nigh – DARPA robot climbs stairs

Terminator anyone?

Cue the ‘end of the world’ music before watching the video below.

Those clever minds at Boston Dynamics and DARPA have once again succeeded in scaring the crap out of us by building a robot that can climb up stairs (and do push-ups).

I’m not talking about an adorable stair-climbing robot like Honda’s ASIMO – I’m talking about a big, hulking, noisy mech that seems straight out of a Hollywood movie set. The prototype robot still has a way to go, but will eventually be used in a government-funded project aimed at producing robots that can be used in disaster response situations and be remotely controlled by human operators.

Regardless of the project’s intent, it is still seriously freaky what science is coming up with these days.
