Thought the company has been acquired by Microsoft, at least so far there have been no damaging repercussions for the end user but you never know. But for now, Skype has launched a new ad campaign for their service and manage to take a few jabs at social networking services like Twitter and Facebook.
Ad Age reports on the costly campaign that will be run extensively and will cost the company $12 million an as you can see with the image above, the dig at Twitter isn’t quite subtle but isn’t much of an insult either. That’s not it, as the company aims at Facebook with the message: “Upgrade from a wall post to a first class conversation.”
Ironically, the website it links to is itstimeforskype.com and they use Twitter’s hashtag feature to promote the ad itself with #timeforskype. These kind of billboards work as they grab the reader’s attention, so no bad on them for trying to be edgy.
