A new challenger for the memory space.

Good: Great performance, good heatsink design, nice LED placement, XMP compatible.
Bad: Overclocking (beyond rated speeds) hard on some modules.

Below is the testbed used for testing the three Apacer memory modules:


As you can see, the Apacer Black Panther is driving circles around the G.Skill Ripjaws Z, even when overclocked to 1800MHz. Stock performance on all Apacer memory modules is commendable, with even the normal UDIMM White LED modules showing great performance.

Either the two year old Giant II models are outclassed by their new Black Panther brethren, or we just got a bad piece which wouldn’t overclock to 1800MHz. I’m think it’s the former in this case, as the Black Panther is just as good as the industry leading G.Skill Ripjaws.

If, however, you’re not into overclocking, the UDIMM White LED memory modules would be a great choice, especially for modders, because the white glow looks great.
