Specs & Benchmarks
The MSI GT780R is a powerhouse gaming laptop, so the specs inside are nothing short of amazing. First off, we have the Intel Sandy Bridge Core-i7 2630QM running at 2GHz processor than can TurboBoost up to 2.8GHz. Then there’s 16GB of DDR3 RAM to make sure you never need any more memory, ever. Hard drives are made up of two 750GB 7200RPM drives running in RAID 0 to give you a total of 1.5TB of drive space. Last but definitely not the least is the Nvidia GTX 560M graphics card with dedicated 1.5GB GDDR5 of memory.
For comparisons I have used the ASUS G53SW and the HP Envy 17 3D reviewed last year. Compared to the MSI GT780R the ASUS is running a previous generation graphics card, so most of the comparisons will be done with synthetic benchmarks. Gaming benchmarks will be run alone on the MSI GT780R, not least because we don’t have access to these old laptops anymore to run some of the recent games in our benchmark suite.
Despite the fact that we have the exact same CPU in all of these laptops, the MSI GT780R somehow leads the charts in CPU intensive benchmarks.
