Bringing the low-end market up to par.

Good: Better performance than HD 7750 and GTX 550Ti, runs quiet and cool.
Bad: Price is too high for the performance delivered.
Price: AED 650

Testbed

For testing the Gigabyte HD 7770 OC the below testebed was used.

In terms of price and product placement, the GTX 550Ti is still in the same realm as the HD 7770, hence I’ve used that for comparisons.

Benchmark Settings

Given the rather mid to low-end performance capacity of the Cape Verde, I have decided to use our ‘medium to low’ settings for benchmarks. Below are the details.

All tests were run at the resolutions of 1920×1080 and 1680×1050.

Overclocking

Given that the Gigabyte HD 7770 already came with a factory overclock of 100MHz, I wasn’t expecting much in terms of further headroom for increased speeds. Indeed the maximum I could manage was 1125MHz on the Core clock. This 2% speed increase resulted in a similarly paltry boost in performance, wherein almost all games had the same frame rates before and after the overclock.
