AIRE Mask – recharge your phone by breathing

You look like Vader, but who cares?

An inventor from Brazil has released a concept image for a device known as the ‘AIRE Mask’, which would power your devices by just breathing. Well, your phone to be exact.

The device may make you look like a cross between Darth Vader and a Sith Lord, but the tiny wind turbines hidden in the mask helps convert your breathing into power for your iPod or phone. The device can be used when you are walking, running, sleeping, or just sitting around doing nothing. Though I’d hate to wake up in the middle of the night and be greeted by someone wearing this contraption.

Inventor Joco Paulo Lammoglia says that the device aims to save energy and reduce standard electricity consumption – it’s unclear how much ‘breathing time’ is needed to provide sufficient recharge, but at least it’s a bold idea in reducing carbon footprint.
