Piratebay arrests and Megaupload leads to a popular website shutting down.

We’ve already seen quite a few filesharing websites close down in the wake of the Megaupload shut down and arrests, but it didn’t really affect torrent websites before. Until now.

Popular torrent website BTJunkie has taken the bullet and decided to close itself down to users after 7 long years of service. The message above is what you get once you visit and it fittingly sums up a final notice and farewell to its longtime users. Speaking to TorrentFreak, one of the founders said that the decision was made after seeing Piratebay owners getting jailed and Megaupload getting shut down. He really hopes that the rest of the websites keep the war going though: “I really do hope so, the war is far from over for sure.”

RIP. And something tells me this isn’t the end of it.
