The smartphone to feature a 4.8″ 1080p display and ceramic casing.

Samsung said it won’t be announcing the Galaxy SIII at the Mobile World Conference, but that hasn’t stopped the source mills to pour out information. The folks at BGR seems to have landed on a juicy bit of that, providing exact specifics of what the new Galaxy S will feature.

According to their sources, the anticipated smartphone will pack in a 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, a 4.8″ 1080p display, an 8MP camera, 4G LTE, and of course, Android 4.0. Interestingly, the device will sport a ceramic casing, which is surely an interesting choice of material and raises doubts of how durable it might be.

The Galaxy SIII is set to release sometime this year. Samsung isn’t forthcoming with an exact date, but rumors suggests the Korean manufacturer plans to release the device in 50 markets simultaneously.

I highly doubt that 4.8″ screen will have 1080p. The pixel density in such size will almost be useless. Not to mention that more pixels means more power hungry the device gets. On top of that if its quad core, i m sure it will need a monster battery to stay alive for a full day.

Quad core is pretty interesting since Android needs some healthy processor to run smoother but my concern will be how much power do a user need? specially at the expense of battery life.

I like Microsoft approach. Their OS needs the least processing powers out of the other 2 major players and for a mobile phone I really think that is the right approach.
