Judge believes he is no longer a flight risk.
A North Shore District judge in New Zealand has granted bail to Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom today, after he ruled that Dotcom was no longer a flight risk.
“It would seem that he has every reason to stay (in New Zealand) to be with his family and to fight to keep his significant assets,” said Judge Nevin Dawson.
Dotcom was denied bail last month by a different judge over the grounds that he may have hidden funds and could potentially use that to leave the country.
Dotcom’s bail has a number of conditions attached, however. For one he cannot use a helicopter and must not travel 80km from his residence. He is also disallowed to use the Internet.
