Their first phone without Ericsson in the title.
Lots of new devices are being announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and now Sony has announced the latest in their Xperia line of phones called Xperia S.
The Xperia S is being branded as “first Sony smartphone” since it’s the first to not have Ericsson in the title since that company has now been fully absorbed by Sony. And it’s a pretty powerful Android Phone indeed and I’ve got to say I like the traditional Sony logo on the phone which gives it a classy look. Here are the specs:
4.3 inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA® Engine
HD resolution screen (1280 × 720)
Front (720p) and back (1080p) cameras for HD recording
1.5GHz dual-core processor
32GB flash storage
12MP back camera
Sony Exmor R™ for mobile
Fastest Capture to take shots in just 1.5 seconds directly from standby mode
NFC (Near Field Communications) enabled to access growing range of NFC applications and services as well as Xperia SmartTags
Aside from that, it will be a “PlayStation certified” device which means you will be able to access the Playstation Store with it. It will not ship with the latest version of Android 4.0 but will make that available through an OTA update. The phone is set to slowly launch in the next few months.
What do you think of Sony’s first true smartphone?
