The costs of all three components I used came up to about AED 7,000 which is what you’d pay for a nice 50” TV nowadays. But within that budget, I got a much larger screen, a PS3 that allows me to play high-definition movies as well as video games and a sound system that is much better than the built-in speakers on a TV.
Sure, there are a few inconveniences such as putting everything together when you want to see something outdoors and possibly tinkering with the brightness and contrast levels depending on the ambient lighting. However, watching movies under the stars is totally worth the experience and a setup time of ten minutes justifies watching a two hour movie.
So there you have it- a little guide that might make you motivated to build a small outdoor theater for yourself. Sky is the limit with how far you can take this idea- for example, if you have a pool in the house, you could possibly enjoy a movie chilling out in your pool at night time. Or add some beanbags and a popcorn machine and invite your friends over for a movie night or a game night.
