Movie studios found to be pirating themselves

Just goes to show that hypocrisy is everywhere.

We have all heard of stories when somebody in authority is breaking their own rules, especially when it comes to big corporates or other political scandals. Now Hollywood movie studios try their utmost to combat piracy through legal actions and bombarding DVD & Bluray films with useless anti-piracy messages. However, do they maintain the same standards within their organizations?

Torrent Freak found out that all the major Hollywood studios have employees are guilty of piracy themselves. Using the recently launched You Have Downloaded, a website that tracks torrent downloads by IP addresses, some interesting discoveries were made. Torrent Freak had some IP address ranges for certain high-profile studios, and simply used those to see if YHD came up with some results.

Sony Pictures torrents.

Sony Pictures isn’t alone, though, as some people at NBC Universal also like TV series.

NBC Universal torrents.

Even Google’s corporate office in New York has a good number of downloads.

Google NY torrents.

Bear in mind that just because a few companies who’s employees have downloaded torrents doesn’t mean that the entire company is at fault. However, shouldn’t these companies judge their internal staff with the same strict guidelines they have laid out for others?

And before you use this website to track who’s been downloading what in your house or office, keep in mind that Etisalat & Du keeps on rotating IP addresses, so what you may see on that list isn’t exactly what someone you know has downloaded. However, it will give you an idea of the kind of stuff people in UAE torrent!
