Qualcomm is ready to unleash their next SoC, and the specifications don’t disappoint at all.
Qualcomm has revealed its next generation Snapdragon S4 processors. These SoC (system on a chip) are built for mobile and small form factor low energy consumption devices, and the new processor is set to fulfill all those demands more successfully. The biggest change from previous processors is that it will be using 28nm manufacturing process. This means that more power per square inch of the chip, so a more smaller size, lower power consumption and even lesser thermal dissipation and energy losses. The S4 SoC will have Krait CPU and Adreno 225 GPU.
The Krait CPU is promised to have a 60% boost over current Scorpion CPUs. These new CPUs will have speed range of 1.5Ghz to 2.5Ghz. Moreover they support asynchornous multi-processing and dual channel memory. The Adreno 225 GPU will have a 50% boost and confirms to DirectX 9.3 for Windows 8 as well as OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0. S4 will be a true multi-mode capable processor with support for worldwide mobile technology standards and features. The samples of processor are already being sent to manufacturers to test it out and we can sure hope to see some amazing devices in future based on this new processor.
